Meet Heather Burgess

Heather Burgess is a New York based actor ready to expand her classical theatre training onto the camera.

Originally from Alabama (although you wouldn’t know it if you heard her speak), she grew up dreaming of this life. From mouthing everyone else’s lines in her preschool play to pretending she was going to the restroom in high school to check the casting list- she couldn’t imagine living any other life.

But definitely don’t think of her as a traditional southern lady - in fact she is quite the opposite. Despite her insane love of BBQ, fried chicken, and biscuits, she plays Dungeons and Dragons once a week on her dual monitor computer that she also uses for video games (PC over console any day). If you catch her riding the train she will most likely be consumed in a post apocalyptic novel wearing long weird skirts with an analog film camera around her neck. And if you happen to catch her on a Saturday in the fall she will be pacing around her apartment stressed as she waits for an Alabama Football game to start.

Heather has always been drawn to this industry which allows her to tell stories that impact, evolve, and question the world. She is ready to play your up and coming nurse, psychology student, or pre-med resident; and the girlfriend of an addict who wants to change the world. Imagine if Natalie Portman and Rachel Brosnahan had a younger sister-that would be her.

Her classical training is from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta where she studied and acted alongside Georgia Shakespeare. She has continued her training with the Kimball Studio for film, The Shakespeare Forum, and The Acting Studio for Meisner training.

After moving to the city she booked her first AEA staged reading produced by Bruce Willis and directed by Richard Caliban. She has started her film career by working on an NYU thesis film, a Harvard graduate student’s film, and the lead in an up and coming film about the lack of prosecution of sexual assaults with Nazza Productions.

She is also extremely passionate about mental health awareness among fellow actors and artists, focusing on eating disorders and disordered eating.
